Osotspa Kicks Off “Invisible Glass Bottle" Project, Joins Forces with Stock Exchange of Thailand and 13 Partners to Create Model Road to Sustainability

Osotspa Public Company Limited joins forces with The Stock Exchange of Thailand and 13 partners of the Care the Whale project to kick off the “Invisible Glass Bottle" project. Mr.Kirati Kosicharoen, Executive Vice President, Head of Accounting & Finance Group and Head of Corporate Services Group, The Stock Exchange of Thailand, Mrs. Sutida Siamharn, Head of Corporate Communication and CSR, Osotspa Public Company Limited, and Miss Noppakao Sucharitakul, Executive Vice President, Head of Corporate Communications & Social Development Group, The Stock Exchange of Thailand, an operator of the Care the Whale project, together with representatives of 13 partners, announced a collaboration to develop a model road to sustainability through promoting separating glass bottles waste and bringing them to recycling system among the enterprises, aiming at effective waste management to help minimize environmental impacts.

The “Invisible Glass Bottle” project is extended from Bottle to Bottle, a project initiated by Osotspa to help reduce waste and the impact of consumer product consumption on the environment through a model that improves the process of bringing waste glass bottles and recycled them to a raw materials for new glass bottle production. Through a collaboration between Osotspa Public Company Limited, Thailand's leading manufacturer and distributor of consumer products, and the Stock Exchange of Thailand, the Invisible Glass Bottle Project is added to the Care the Whale, Invisible Waste project, which encourages partners in Ratchadapisek Road area and other districts to sort waste and put them to the recycling system. The project also uses the Care the Whale Calculator to help calculate the amount of greenhouse gas emissions reduced by those sorted waste. The Invisible Glass Bottle project allows the Care the Whale project to receive waste glass bottles by providing the partners with bins for collecting used glass bottles. Then, the Company will convert received waste glass bottles into Osotspa’s products in the value equivalent to the amount of waste received (1 baht per 1 kg of glass bottle waste) and for the Care the Whale’s charitable activities.

The Invisible Glass Bottle project has joined the Care the Whale project with an aim to create a model road to sustainability. Thirteen partners which include offices, shopping centers, office buildings, condominiums, and educational institutions in the area of ​​Ratchadaphisek Road and outside the area, namely the Stock Exchange of Thailand, Muang Thai Life Assurance Public Company Limited, AIA Company Limited (AIA Capital Center Building), IDEO Ratchada-Huay Kwang Condominium, Loxley Public Company Limited, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of Mahidol University, Thai Life Insurance Public Company Limited, The Street Retail Development Company Limited, TV Direct Public Company Limited, TISCO Financial Group Public Company Limited, The Line Asoke Ratchada Condominium, CW Tower and Central Pattana Public Company Limited (Central Rama 9 branch) also take part in the project.

Miss Noppakao Sucharitakul, Executive Vice President, Head of Corporate Communications & Social Development Group, The Stock Exchange of Thailand, said, “The Care the Whale project has encouraged partners to separate waste and deliver recyclable waste to the proper recycling systems. From the beginning of the year to July, the project was able to collect 6,493 kg of glass bottles, of which 3,823 kg are clear glass bottles and 2,670 kg are colored glass bottles and reduced greenhouse gas emissions of 110,154.70 kgCO2e. The collaboration with Osotspa through the Invisible Glass Bottle Project will further promote the separation of glass bottles to be recycled and transformed into new glass bottles, helping reduce the use of sand, which is an important natural raw material in glass bottle production.”

Mrs. Sutida Siamharn, Head of Corporate Communication and CSR, Osotspa Public Company Limited, said, “Osotspa focuses on resource management to reduce environmental impact by complying with the circular economy principle. An advanced recycling center has been established to reduce waste, recycle more materials, and optimize resources, especially to recycle waste glass into raw material for producing new bottles. However, to achieve the goal of reducing the environmental impact caused by the consumption, cooperation through the entire value chain is needed. The Invisible Bottle Project was initiated to set up a synergy of partners who share the same goal of supporting waste separation at source, waste reduction, and waste glass recycling to create the road to sustainability.”

The Invisible Bottle Project will help expand the green power of the communities. Earlier, Osotspa started piloting this model in the communities surrounding the head office in the Huamark district last year and was able to collect a total of 11,758 kilograms of glass bottles. This is a testament to the community's power of reducing environmental impact. Osotspa will continue to encourage Thai people to separate waste and turn them into the happiness of people in the communities to build a sustainable society together.
